RALLY FORD SIERRA RS COSWORTH CLUBMAN
This is a particularly interesting example of the legendary 1986 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth, built to Clubman Group A specification and incorporating a combination of genuine Ford Motorsport components, Group A competition equipment and selected Group N and standard production components.
One of the most significant features of this car is its genuine Ford Motorsport Group A seam welded bodyshell, identified by its original Ford Motorsport chassis identification plate, welded into the correct factory position. The authenticity of this important feature is further supported by the Ford Motorsport 909 series part numbering. A photograph of the chassis identification plate is available on our website.
The car has been refinished in the period correct Ford Motorsport livery, inspired by the Sierra driven by rally legend Stig Blomqvist in 1986.
Further original Ford Motorsport components include the genuine auxiliary front lamp pods, the original Magneti Marelli competition ECU, a works specification fuse box and the original, unmodified air filter housing.
Power comes from the legendary Ford Cosworth 2.0 litre turbocharged four cylinder engine, driving the rear wheels through a standard five speed manual gearbox with a conventional H pattern shift and a limited slip differential.
This left hand drive example was manufactured in 1986 and was first registered on 8 November 1986.
The engine hour meter currently displays approximately 64 operating hours.
In October 2026, the car underwent a technical assessment by Erwin Doctor, a former Dutch Ford factory rally driver, who competed in Ford rally cars of this era and has firsthand experience with this type of competition machinery.
The Sierra is supplied with four new OZ Racing rally wheels, measuring 8J x 17 inches, with a 4×108 bolt pattern and ET25 offset, fitted with four new racing tyres.
Equipment and Features
The Sierra RS Cosworth is finished in a striking white and blue colour scheme with silver and blue graphics, faithfully reflecting the appearance of Ford’s international rally cars of the 1980s.
The largely stripped competition interior features black cloth trimmed Sabelt GT3 bucket seats, Sabelt racing harnesses, a two spoke AP Sport steering wheel and a comprehensive selection of period inspired motorsport equipment.
Chassis, Suspension and Braking
The foundation of this Sierra is its genuine Ford Motorsport Group A bodyshell, featuring extensive seam welding to increase structural rigidity.
Its original Ford Motorsport chassis identification plate remains welded into the correct position, providing an important identifying feature of the competition bodyshell.
The front suspension and suspension control arms retain standard production specifications, while the rear suspension features coilover shock absorbers.
The rear braking system remains standard, while the front brakes have been upgraded with reinforced components, although these are not Group N specification.
The braking system incorporates Group A specification brake master cylinders, a Group A competition pedal box and an adjustable brake balance regulator.
A hydraulic handbrake is also fitted.
An aluminium sump guard provides additional protection to the underside of the engine.
Engine, Transmission and Motorsport Electronics
The Ford Cosworth 2.0 litre turbocharged engine is equipped with an original Ford Motorsport Magneti Marelli ECU.
The original air filter housing remains intact and unmodified, preserving an important element of the period engine installation.
The car also features selectable turbo boost settings.
Power is transmitted through a standard five speed manual gearbox with a conventional H pattern gear selection, rather than a dogleg competition gearbox.
A limited slip differential distributes power to the rear wheels.
The electrical installation includes a works specification fuse box, another notable Ford Motorsport component.

The car has been repainted during its lifetime and is currently presented in the distinctive Ford Motorsport livery inspired by Stig Blomqvist’s 1986 rally programme.
The competition interior has been retrimmed, and the car is equipped with a combination of genuine Ford Motorsport components, Group A competition parts and selected standard production components.
The tyres have been replaced with new items.

Technical Assessment, October 2026
In October 2026, the Sierra was technically assessed by Erwin Doctor, a former Dutch Ford factory rally driver with firsthand experience of Ford’s competition cars from this period.
Having competed in this type of machinery during his rally career, Doctor brings valuable period knowledge and practical experience to the technical assessment of the vehicle.
This assessment provides additional insight into the car’s specification and the combination of genuine Ford Motorsport, Group A and standard production components.
