2022 Toyota GR Supra Premium – WRL GP1 Build Documentation
This technical build sheet and component documentation details the 2022 Toyota GR Supra Premium built by TBR Automotive for competition in WRL GP1 and Zenith endurance racing.
1. Engine, Driveline & Cooling
– Engine Platform & Control: BMW/Toyota B58 3.0L Inline-6 Turbocharged engine. Dual FEMTO DME Unlocks: Bench-unlocked and updated for MHD+ protocol integration. MHD Super License for B58 platform engine tuning and map switching. Multi-stage chassis dyno calibration sessions for race fuel and class power-to-weight optimization.
– Auxiliary Cooling & Fluid Management: Custom auxiliary oil cooler packaging with 304 stainless steel fan shrouds (.074″). Quad SPAL 4.00-inch high-output electric puller fans (147 CFM each, 12V). Anti-vibration isolator mounting hardware across auxiliary coolers and differential cooler brackets. Thermal and abrasion-resistant protective sleeve routing for oil cooler blocks, front lines, and pedal box lines.
– Driveline & Transmission: ZF 8HP 8-speed automatic transmission. Seems Legit Garage / Evo2 Gen1 BMW manual park release conversion kit, including protective sleeved non-locking pull cable assembly.
2. Braking Systems (On-Car)
– Calipers & Rotors: Front: AP Racing Radi-CAL Competition Brake Kit (CP9668 6-piston endurance calipers) with 372mm x 34mm 2-piece fully floating ventilated discs. Rear: AP Racing Radi-CAL Competition Brake Kit (CP9450 4-piston endurance calipers) with 365mm x 30mm 2-piece floating ventilated discs. High-temp rotor indicator paint and caliper thermal temp strips.
– Pedal Box & Hydraulics: AP Racing CP5548-BT floor-mounted, sliding multi-pedal box assembly. Subcontracted CAD chassis floor mount and reinforcing bracketry. AP Racing CP6467-224 pull-type master cylinders (dual front/rear split) with remote bias adjustment. AP Racing CP4773-1 triple-fluid reservoir assembly. Custom CNC/sheetmetal electronic throttle pedal mount.
– Pads: Duncan / CSG endurance-compound GP1 front and rear brake pad friction sets.
3. Suspension, Chassis & Aerodynamics
– Dampers & Valving: JRZ 12 Series motorsport multi-way adjustable dampers. 25mm heavy-duty piston rod upgrade. JRZ FA3030 internal piston upgrade, featuring custom race shim stacks and bypass jets. Rear Staubli dry-break quick disconnects for remote fluid reservoirs.
– Springs & Hardware: Front: 800 lbs/in main springs paired with 150 lbs/in helper springs and 2.25″ connecting plates. Rear: 750 lbs/in main springs paired with JRZ 2.0″ ID helper springs, 50mm connecting plates, and auxiliary 2.0″ ID x 6″ coilover springs. 6061-T6 billet aluminum rear strut spacers with grade 12.9 alloy socket head hardware for ride-height fine-tuning.
– Alignment & Kinematics: JRZ front spherical top mounts with integrated camber and caster adjustment. JRZ solid rear billet top mounts. TRD GT4 inner tie rod assemblies (HD Moog ball-joint spec). Motorsport front wheel stud conversion. Supra setup hub conversions for alignment rigs, corner balancing, and digital chassis scales.
– Aerodynamics & Underbody: Factory Toyota GR Supra TRD GT4 carbon rear wing assembly with chassis load supports. Underbody aero panels and rear lower control arm (LCA) aerodynamic shields.
4. Fuel System & Refueling
– Fuel Cell & Surge Tank: Radium Engineering 22-gallon FIA FT3-certified fuel cell bladder in aluminum enclosure. Subcontracted rear floor chassis fabrication, cradle drop-mount, and sealed firewall enclosure. Radium FCST-X internal module with Walbro GSS342 surge/lift pump configuration. Custom quad DeatschWerks micro lift pumps mounted in cell scavenge corners. Radium mid-depth lift pump pickup bracketry. 12x Radium 0.5-gallon fuel displacement blocks.
– Sensors & Evacuation: Internal fuel level sender and RIFE 100 PSI DTM-series pressure transducer with -6AN adapter manifold. Dedicated fuel pump-out system with inline -6AN tee adapter, 20-foot -6AN PTFE nylon braided hose, and Aeromotive -6AN hose ends. Mil-spec fuel cell bulkhead electrical connector.
– Dry-Break Refueling: Dual Redhead 2.0 push-pull refueling female valves with aluminum bulb outlets mounted directly through rear quarter window composite panel. Custom fabricated aluminum filler neck, 3D printed Y-pipe fuel duct, and 2-1/4″ reinforced fuel filler hose. Fuel Safe -12AN male in-line discriminator roll-over/vent valve and vent line.
5. Electrical, Telemetry & Electronics
– Wiring & Power Distribution: Stripped factory chassis harness: de-pinned, lightened, mil-spec laced, and loomed. Gigavac GV200 series 500A / 12-800Vdc sealed hermetic contactors. Solid-state battery master disconnect system with cabin and exterior activation switch plates. Custom 3D scanned and printed roll-cage mounting brackets for the fuse blocks and switch panels.
– Data Logging & Controls: AiM MXG 1.3 7-inch color TFT dash logger with roof-mount GPS module. 3D scanned dash assembly with custom 3D printed GF-ABS cluster insert mount. AiM K8 open compact 8-button CAN keypad integrated into PDM. AiM steering column-mounted multi-stage LED shift light module. AiM 4-port CAN data hub and CAN extension harnesses.
– Video, Comms & Marshalling: Racelogic VBOX Video HD2 Track Package (dual HD camera, roll bar mount, CAN vehicle interface cable). Gentex digital rear-view mirror system with JOES Racing roll-bar clamp mounts. Cartek FIA 8874-2019 high-intensity rectangular rain/brake light. Motorola CM300D digital/analog two-way mobile radio, roof ground-plane removable PCB antenna, steering wheel PTT, door-bar helmet quick disconnect. Dual MyLaps TR2 direct-power transponders (5-year and 2-year subscriptions).
6. Safety, Interior & Driver Ergonomics
– Roll Cage & Body Preparation: Custom TIG-welded MKV A90 Supra Road Race Roll Cage kit engineered for FIA / WRL GP1 regulations. Full chassis strip: interior sound deadening removed via dry ice blasting, unused spot-welded brackets removed, rear hatch gutted. Complete interior tub refinished and painted in gloss white. Quarter panels wrapped.
– Seating, Belts & Restraints: OMP / BBi HRC-Carbon FIA-homologated halo race seat. Custom fabricated GT4 chassis floor-mount seat brackets with custom rake adjustment. Schroth Racing multi-point endurance harness with cotter-pinned belt latches. Driver change rapid-retract setup: 5x spring retractable keychains and Hart neodymium magnet cubes for holding shoulder/lap belts during swaps. Window net and center cockpit door nets with quick-release hardware. Front and rear TRD motorsport tow hooks.
– Fire Suppression: Lifeline Zero 275 ColdFire / Monnex dual-agent electric fire system. Billet bottle cage mounts, custom tested wiring harness, and exterior windshield cowl activation switch.
– Driver Cooling & Hydration: Dual Chillout Systems driver cooling: Chillout Pro cooler mounted to dedicated floor baseplate with insulated delivery lines and 30A circuit breakers. Chillout AirCon / Helmet Blower modular swap kit: carbon fiber baseplate, 3″ spherical CF ram air duct, 3″ CF 90° air plenum, 3″ neoprene ducting, remote control, and Maglock Air magnetic helmet connector. Longacre roll bar-mounted dual drink bottle system.
