1995 GT2 RSR Re Tubbed with last GT2 evo chasis with additional complete PMNA GT2 EVO 3.8 TT Engine.
1995 Porsche Cup 3.8 RSR – Current Specifications
This is a factory race car originally purchased in April 1996.
Chassis
This RSR was upgraded to a GT2 factory race chassis by Kelly Moss Racing– based on the wider 993
Turbo – which allowed adding wider EVO bodywork, wheels, and tires. The original VIN was transferred
to this GT2 chassis in 2000 – 2002. All engine, transmission, and suspension linkage points are solid
mount as came from the factory. Front uprights are upgraded to the EVO units to eliminate bump-steer
issues. Rear suspension has an anti-squat removal spacer as is common with these cars. Rear deck is
from the 964 3.8 car (reduced drag) and the wing is Crawford carbon-fiber “banana” design. Also includes the evo wing pictured. Doors are
hollow shell carbon-fiber with no windows. Factory air jacks were all refreshed in 2008.
Tires/Wheels
2 pair BBS Centerlock Fronts 0228039 10” wide running Yokohama 250-650/18 slicks (Rim halves 2” &
8”)
2 pair BBS Centerlock Rears 0228051 12.5” wide running Yokohama 320-650/18 slicks (rim halves 4.5”
and 8”)
1 full set F&R BBS Centerlock Rains (used for trailering by owner with factory tie-down hubs) with Pireilli
rain tires (9” & 11” Rims) (Tires never used on track and too old to run at speed)
Brake
Brakes are basically as on the 993 Turbo with the original RSR racing ABS. AP600 fluid is used, bled
before each event. Front KMR brake cooling duct package. These ABS brakes with 10” front slicks can
out-stop most any Cup car.
Shocks
Penske 3-way adjustable remote reservoir shocks, with KMR valving/shim packs. These cost about
$12,000 new.
Sway Bars
Kelly Moss spec cockpit adjustable sway bars, Front and Rear. Expensive and worthwhile!
SafetyHalon fire system – factory bottle was replaced by USA model as original (included in sale) could not be
shipped for refill. FIA Sabelt HANS 6-point 3” /2” belts. Window net per PCA requirements. Brey-Kruse
seat-back brace per PCA regulations.
Weight
Car weighs 2385 lbs per last corner balance without driver or fuel. front fenders, flares, rear bumper, wings, under-trays, and Lexan windows all around. shock brace by Brey-Kruse.
Has carbon fiber or fiberglass nose,
Carbon fiber front
Fuel
Fuel Safe 100 liter fuel cell with fast-fill connectors (not used by current owner), updated with new cell
liner 5 years ago. Non-linear fuel gauge with low fuel warning light in console. Bosch 044 fuel pump
with AN hoses and dual pick-ups in baffled and valved sump inside tank. Newer Bosch 5-bar fuel
pressure regulator.
Engine
This 3.8 liter engine was “Sprinted” by PMNA/Andial in 1998, which included special cams, exotic ported
heads, and an “EFI”-brand engine management system. It has Mahle P & C’s. A Sprint head cracked in
2003, and all were replaced with new standard RSR heads (no crack-causing porting). Compression
lowered with base shims to 11.7:1 and ignition and cam timing has also been pulled back a bit to reduce
stress and add life. The EFI system was re-calibrated on a dyno for the current de-tuned setup,
producing 296 rear-wheel HP. This adds life to the engine but sacrifices HP. If you want to run faster,
the engine can be hopped-up to around 400HP with a sacrifice of longevity. EFI software and cable is
included for your XP laptop. Engine was freshened in Oct. 2013 with ARP through bolts and new
bearings etc. and has 3 hours. Gearbox has 3 hours.( Set up at Monticello, and tracked at Rennsport 2018) Rocker arms are mechanically adjustable as per most RSR’s, which moved
away from the valve lash-cap design. Intakes have PMNA risers to improve low-end torque, and exhaust
is PMNA “large-tube” SS headers – part of “Sprint” package.
Clutch
Tilton 3-plate 5.5” sintered-metal clutch with Aasco light-weight aluminum flywheel and Tilton annular
Throw-out and pilot bearings, and clutch-plates new Oct. 2013. (Also from PMNA
throw-out bearing. “Sprint” mods.)Transmission
The limited-slip differential is now by “Guard” (the ring gear mounting flange on the Porsche diffs crack).
9:31 R&P gear. Transmission rebuild/refreshed Oct 2013 by Cervelli (Denver). Gearing has been
extensively modified for the tracks I visit as follows (speeds at 7400rpm redline):
1st 12:34 57.8mph
2nd 21:42 81.8mph
3rd 19:30 103.6mph
4th 21:27 127.3mph
5th 23:26 144.8mph
