Grand Am Spec 2011 with some Grand Am changes in 2012
Wheels/Body
In 2012 wheel spec were increased to 12 F/13 R versus 9.5/12 for the tires Grand Am speced for Grand Am GT3 Cup Cars. This required the rear fenders to be tubbed and flares widened, changed to RSR Suspension components for wider tire geometry including LCA’s (Lower control arms) and adjustable rear suspension dog bones were added (OEM were fixed length). Grand Am required 5 bolt wheels although hubs have center lock studs that are used for trailer tow ring loops. 5 bolt much easier than centerlocks (Torque 85lbs). Car has 3.5 sets of BBS wheels with numerous spare rim halves to build more.
Motor
Original factory motor was rebuilt by the factory PMNA at 44 hours and currently has about 35 Hours. Have PMNA documentation with seal.
2012 allowed 4.0 but Greer was advised to rebuild 3.8 because the new 4.0 barrels/pistons combo had not been tested (less material) in endurance racing and both 3.8/4.0 were tuned at 450HP per Grand Am rules.
Gear box
Rebuilt with less than 2 hours. With wheel and tire change, gearing was changed to optimize the motor rev ranges. Recent rebuild included a new main shaft, 4 new gears, and new dogs.
Axles: Pankl with about 3.5 hours on set on car and spares with 33 Hours. Pankl is the highest quality axles for Cup Cars. Cost $25,000 per set.
Clutch: Upgraded to more durable Sachs clutch.
Radiators/Cooler: Updated with PWR that are heavier duty for endurance racing.
Body: Carbon Fiber doors, front fenders, front hood, front bumper surround, rear bumper surround and underbody front and rear panels. Behind the front and rear carbon fiber surrounds are factory tubular Beef Bar structures to provide a crush structure to protect chassis.
Headlight updated to RSR H4 lights.
Front windshield and rear window metal supports for running car with cut out windows which is how they ran cars in Grand Am. You can run door windows and swap out quickly as desired if installed with Camlocs.
Motec was upgraded to highest logging capability. Beacon activated now but have new Motec GPS module that needs to be installed.
Shocks: Car has factory Cup Car OEM Sachs Shocks on car, but included are KW 3 way shocks fresh from KW rebuild. They were on car for 2011 24. The KW invoice from Wright Motorsports was over $21K and is included. Have Nitrogen fill valve for shocks.
Sway Bars: F&R. In cockpit driver adjustable rear Sway Bar.
Brakes: Car upgraded with Brembo calipers that Grand Am allowed. Better than OEM.
Flat Under body: Front under body carbon fiber rear section from doors back with carbon fiber brake ducts. Front underbelly is carbon fiber. Two other panels are OEM ABS.
Aero: Crawford rear wing wider than OEM with raised endplates higher than OEM so you ca see through rear window.
Exhaust: Grand Am spec header exhaust single outlet.
