The ACR-X was introduced in 2010 and limited to 50 total production units. When under development stage, it was clocked running the Nurburgring at a blistering time of 7:03.058. The Viper ACR-X took the performance attributes of the of the record-setting, street-legal Dodge Viper ACR and the safety equipment of the championship-winning Viper Competition Coupe. This Viper ACR-X is powered by the SRT-developed 8.4-liter V10, equipped with factory headers and a low-restriction exhaust system producing 640 horsepower in stock form. Originally purchased by a hardcore Viper enthusiast from Alabama, it was driven at DE and private track events through 2020 when it was purchased by the second owner with 1,755 miles.
Since purchasing in 2020, few miles were added. In late 2021, the #20 was shipped to Prefix Corporation to update the engine ECU with a final dyno showing and estimated 689hp and confirmed 589whp. Soon after it was trailered to RPM Transmission to install a new Gen5 transmission with 3.72 gear sets and Wavetrac differential. The result, an additional 89hp over the street legal production model and 49hp more than the X offered in 2010. When initially offered to the public, the X showcased many years of performance engineering expertise from the SRT team.
The suspension on the X was further tuned and upgraded specifically for on-track usage, while the weight was lightened by 160 pounds over the production Viper to take on the most challenging road courses around. The current owner added KW Revalved Adjustable Shocks since purchasing and improved braking adding massive racing carbon ceramic rotors and 6-piston calipers.
In late 2021, the owner decided to transform this already blistering quick X into the ultimate track car. Introducing ACR-X Project 68. Working closely with Verus Engineering for two years investing thousands and many hours developing a full downforce CFD study. The result, a breathtaking aero package including high downforce wing, diffuser, side skirts, and wheel well ducts. The additions are a serious contrast from stock and backed by lap times showing the improved downforce figures, while enhancing stability and significantly improving grip in high-speed cornering.
The OEM downforce figures:
• 100mph – 488 lbs downforce, 279 lbs drag
• 120mph – 695 lbs downforce, 402 lbs drag
• 160mph – 1249 lbs downforce, 720 lbs dra
• Efficiency (L/D): 1.73
The High Downforce results:
• 100mph – 1200 lbs downforce, 461 lbs drag
• 120mph – 1733 lbs downforce, 664 lbs drag
• 160mph – 3081 lbs downforce, 1181 lbs drag
• Efficiency (L/D): 2.61
Similar to the Dodge Viper Competition Coupe, the Viper ACR-X contained factory-installed safety equipment such as a factory-designed roll cage, fuel cell and race seat. Several of these safety items were serviced and improved in 2021 including:
– New fuel cell
– Fire suppression system
– Side impact bars were modernized
– New Saebelt racing seats and harnesses
– Nuke Performance low pressure air jacks were installed in 2021 (125psi).
– Swift Springs with multiple sets of spares
– Reinforced hubs installed
– Auto-Blip
These additional racing components were added to meet the significant durability and reliability requirements for on-track competition above and beyond the stock ACR-X. This X is focused on road-racing enthusiasts who want to successfully compete in a proven American sports car. Project 68 has consistently ran 1:08’s at Putnam Park Road Course. The ACR-X offers GT level competition and is ready to be driven and enjoyed.
Additional items included:
– 4-spare OZ wheels
– Original ACR-X wheels
– Spare RB brake pads
– Full factory camber kit
