1985 Porsche Fabcar 944 GTR
This is chassis #PMNA944.2… The second car of only seven Porsche Fabcar 944 GTR’s built under the watch of Al Holbert, by Dave Klym – The founder of Fabcar.
The chassis was reworked from the ground up by Miller Racing Porsche’s Lee White and Dave Klym. It is believed that only 4 or 5 of these cars survive in their original specification today.
It was originally campaigned by Herman+Miller Racing Porsche in the 1985 SCCA Bendix Brake Trans-Am Championship Series, driven by Paul Miller of Morristown, N.J.
This Racecar is powered by a 2.5 Liter Porsche 4 cylinder engine developed and built by ANDIAL producing in excess of 700 hp.
The suspension was computer designed by David Bruns, creator of the National Championship Swift Formula Ford.The car comprises a super-light spaceframe chassis, a dual Bosch breaker less TS2 ignition system, Bosch mechanical fuel injection, Warner Ishi turbocharger, Air-to-air intercooler, the brakes are from the 962 four-piston alloy calipers with drilled discs and internal ventilation. The power is transmitted through a Hewland DGB 5 Speed trans-axle. There are also adjustable front and rear sway bars fitted.
