[ Race Car / Open Wheel ]

This 1978 Lola T492 is said to have been imported from the UK to the US in the late 1970s and campaigned in various SCCA and NASA racing events in Southern California since the early 2000s. The car was acquired by the seller in 2019 and subsequently refurbished including a repaint, replacement of the engine and transaxle, and overhauls of the chassis, suspension, and brakes. The bodywork is finished in a two-tone silver and orange livery and power is provided by a 2.0L SOHC inline-four paired with a Hewland five-speed manual transaxle and a Quaife limited-slip differential. This T492 is now offered in California with SCCA and NASA logbooks, service records under current ownership, spare parts, and a bill of sale.

Staggered-width 13″ Revolution alloy wheels are mounted with 20×7” front and 22×9” rear with racing slicks with yellow lettering. The car rides on Koni double-adjustable shock absorbers and Eibach springs, and suspension refurbishment work is said to have included crack testing and refinishing of various components. Stopping power is provided by a Wilwood primary cylinder and aluminum calipers with an inboard-mounted setup out back.

The MOMO steering wheel frames an Auto Meter tachometer and Racetech gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature. The wiring, fuse box, and toggle switches are said to have been replaced during the refurbishment.

The 2.0-liter SOHC inline-four was built in April 2019 by Pick’s Racing Engines in Santa Ana, California, with the following replacement parts:

Burton YB 200 aluminum engine block

Farndon EN40B steel crankshaft

Carillo connecting rods
