1999 Porsche Boxster 3.4L Race Car
1999 Porsche Boxster 3.4L Race Car
Originally built by Dwayne Dement of Vision Motorsports as his personal race car, this 1999 Porsche Boxster has been extensively developed with a focus on performance, reliability, data acquisition, and race-ready functionality.
The car is powered by a rebuilt 3.4L engine with approximately 10 hours of use. Power is managed through a rebuilt gearbox, also with approximately 10 hours, featuring a combination of stock and Albins gear ratios for optimized performance across the rev range. A Guard differential further enhances traction and drivability.
The suspension features rebuilt JRZ shocks, while the chassis is equipped with a comprehensive Mil-Spec wiring system and a MoTeC M150 ECU. The car has been converted to drive-by-wire and utilizes a dedicated Power Distribution Module for the electrical system.
Driver information and data acquisition are handled through an AiM MXL2 dash, with WiFi or cable download capability. The car is equipped with AiM sensors monitoring oil pressure, oil temperature, coolant temperature, fuel level, brake pressure, throttle position, and GPS speed. Front and rear SmartyCams provide additional video and data capabilities.
Additional race-focused equipment includes a custom aero package, in-car radio, power steering pump, deep oil sump pan, fuel pump-out system, cabin cooling fan, Cool Suit system, Numeric shifter and cables, and a transponder.
The car is equipped with Boxster S brakes and comes with two total sets of wheels.
The ECU currently has a 91-octane tune producing approximately 309 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. An existing 100-octane tune previously produced approximately 317 hp and 283 lb-ft of torque.
With a reported dry weight of approximately 2,560 lbs, this Boxster offers an impressive combination of power, weight, sophisticated electronics, race-focused suspension, and proven competition-oriented equipment.
