Porsche has unveiled the new 911 Challenge, an entry-level race car designed to give more drivers an accessible path into Porsche customer racing.

Based largely on the Porsche 911 GT3 road car, the 911 Challenge shares the GT3’s seven-speed PDK gearbox, while also featuring the 911 GT3 RS steering wheel with enhanced racing-specific functions and air conditioning. Because the 911 Challenge is based so closely on the 911 GT3 road car, Porsche sees it as a natural step for drivers who already enjoy taking their GT3 to the track.

Technical Highlights:

  • Power comes from a 4.0-liter six-cylinder boxer engine producing 508 horsepower.
  • The 911 Challenge also gives drivers adjustable electronic systems, including:
  • Adjustable traction control
  • Adjustable ABS
  • Adjustable stability control
  • Multi-stage adjustable Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus
  • Seven-speed PDK transmission
  • GT3 RS steering wheel with racing-specific functions
  • Air conditioning

The combination is intended to retain the familiarity of the road-going GT3 while adding the technology and functionality of a dedicated Porsche race car.

The Porsche 911 Challenge is priced at $275,000 USD, including import and delivery to the United States. That puts it below the price of the 911 Cup and Porsche’s recently announced 911 GT4 R, giving drivers another option within Porsche’s motorsport lineup.

Built for Porsche’s North American Racing Ladder, the 911 Challenge will be eligible for competition in the Porsche Sprint and Endurance Challenge North America by Yokohama, Porsche Sprint Trophy Porsche Club of America by Yokohama, and the recently announced Porsche Sprint Trophy Porsche Owners Club, subject to applicable sporting and technical regulations. Full-season entrants in the North American Porsche single-make series will have priority on available allocations.

The Porsche 911 Challenge will compete in North America beginning with the 2027 season.
