Vision Motorsports Porsche 935-Inspired Race Car
Porsche 912 / Vision Motorsports 935-Style Race Car
Originally a 1967 Porsche 912, this car has been extensively reimagined by Vision Motorsports of Laguna Hills, California, into an updated, mid-engine Porsche 935-inspired race car.
The original Porsche frame remains from the B-pillar forward to the front cowl, while the remainder of the chassis has been constructed around a custom tube-frame design.
Power comes from a heavily developed 5.0L twin-turbo V8, originally based on a 4.5L Porsche Cayenne V8. The engine features custom Garrett turbos, a Vision Motorsports-designed intercooler, custom crankshaft, Carrillo connecting rods, CP pistons, and Vision custom headers and exhaust.
A selector knob mounted inside the car provides three selectable race boost maps, ranging from approximately 700 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque on the lowest setting to over 1,000 horsepower and 850 lb-ft of torque at the highest setting. The car has historically been raced on the lowest boost setting.
During a test day at Willow Springs in March, professional driver Tom Dyer drove the car for the first time and recorded low 1:18s within his first three laps, using the lowest boost setting.
