Prodrive P25
Designed by Peter Stevens, the renowned designer behind the original 1997 Subaru Impreza WRC and subsequent Prodrive limited-edition Imprezas, the Prodrive P25 pays direct homage to the legendary WRC97. Developed in collaboration with the Prodrive Engineering Team under Technical Director David Lapworth, the P25 combines the spirit of Subaru’s iconic World Rally Car with modern engineering and performance.
The P25 was engineered with a clear objective: less weight, more power, and sharper handling. The result is an exceptionally capable performance car that brings genuine Prodrive rally-car technology to the road.
Extensive use of carbon composite throughout the bodywork dramatically reduces weight. The carbon construction includes the bonnet, boot, roof, sills, door mirror housings, front and rear quarters, bumpers, and WRC-style rear wing. Lightweight race seats, carbon door cards, and a lithium-ion battery further contribute to the P25’s optimized power-to-weight ratio.
At the heart of the P25 is a Prodrive-built 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-four boxer engine producing 450 bhp. Based on the EJ25 platform, the engine features bespoke performance components including forged pistons, steel connecting rods, ported cylinder heads, upgraded valve seats, and a variable-cam-timing valvetrain.
Forced induction comes from a Garrett performance turbocharger paired with a high-performance intercooler and airbox, while an Akrapovič titanium-tipped racing exhaust system completes the powertrain package.
Power is delivered through a six-speed sequential gearbox with helical-cut gears and semi-automatic paddle shifting, allowing rapid, precise gear changes in as little as 80 milliseconds.
A WRC-inspired launch control system integrates the fly-by-wire throttle and clutch with the floor-mounted pedal box, optimizing acceleration through the first three gears. The result is blistering standing-start performance, with the P25 capable of reaching 60 mph in under three seconds.
With its carbon-composite construction, Prodrive-developed powertrain, sequential transmission, WRC-inspired systems, and unmistakable rally heritage, the P25 represents one of the most sophisticated and exclusive interpretations of the Subaru Impreza ever produced.
