1974 Lola T360 Formula Atlantic
This 1974 Lola T360 is a non-running project that is one of 21 built for use in Formula Atlantic and Formula B competition. This car only needs a new fuel cell and a new front main engine seal. It is said to have been raced in the Pacific Northwest until the late 1980s and was briefly relocated to the UK before being brought to California, where it was acquired by the seller in 1990. Initially powered by a 1,600cc-class engine, the car has been fitted with a 2.0-liter Lotus 907 inline-four with a dry-sump lubrication system and dual Weber 48 DCOE carburetors. The engine is backed by a Hewland FT200 five-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential, and the running gear includes an adjustable suspension, Girling disc brakes, and 13” magnesium wheels. Fiberglass bodywork is finished in yellow, and other highlights include an external oil cooler, a rear wing, Sebring-style side mirrors, and a fire suppression system. Following a decade-long refurbishment, the car was previously raced until 2004, when an oil leak was discovered after an engine rebuild. Stored indoors since then, this modified T360 project is now offered in California with a VARA logbook, extra wheels, spare parts, tools, and a bill of sale. The T360 was introduced in 1974 for use in Formula Atlantic and SCCA Formula B competition. Factory equipment included a Cosworth-modified 1,600cc Ford Kent inline-four and a front-mounted radiator. Ted Wentz won the 1975 Southern Organs Formula Atlantic Championship behind the wheel of a T360, and Ron Clawson piloted another to win the 1978 Mid-Am Championship Formula B. Chassis HU14 was modified in the 1980s with a tub formed from thicker-than-standard aluminum sheet. The fiberglass bodywork is finished in yellow with black #14 numerals. Exterior details include a tinted wraparound windscreen, a rear wing, Sebring-style mirrors, and a roll hoop with a padded headrest. Magnesium 13” knock-off wheels are secured with hexagonal nuts and wrapped in 20.0×9.5” front and 23.0×13.0” rear Goodyear Eagle tires. The car rides on adjustable coilovers all around, and the tubular control arms and linkages have spherical joints. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with slotted rotors and Girling calipers that are inboard-mounted out back. Equipped with a Hewland FT200 five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. A VARA logbook will accompany the car along with multiple extra sets of magnesium wheels is included in the sale along with a quick jack, tools, and spare parts. This car has had a complete restoration and engine refurbishment, all that is left to do are the fuel cells and engine seal. The car is not legal for road use and carries no title or registration. It is being sold on a bill of sale.
