1967 Mini Cooper S Speedwell Vintage Race Car

This 1967 Morris Mini Cooper S was converted into a race car when it was new and then driven to two SCCA Southeast division championships by its original owner. The car has also been driven in the Monterey Historics on several occasions, including in 2024. A rebuild in the 2000s involved a repaint in white as well as the installation of a fresh roll cage, a powder-coated subframe, and an overhauled race suspension and brake system. The 1,293cc A-series inline-four was built for racing by Swiftune in 2022, and the four-speed dog-box transaxle was built with a close-ratio gearset in 2024. This Mini Mk I is now offered on dealer consignment in Arizona with service invoices, build documentation, a Production Record Trace certificate, and a clean Montana title.

The 10″ Minilite wheels are mounted with Hoosier slicks. The car rides on a dry Hi-Lo suspension with Spax adjustable shocks and is further equipped with Delrin bushings and a KAD narrow rear sway bar. Braking is handled by AP Racing front discs paired with finned rear drums, and the system has been further upgraded with Speedwell dual brake master cylinder, Aeroquip brake fittings, braided brake hoses, and a brake bias adjuster.

The 1,293cc A-series inline-four was built by Swiftune in May 2022 and is fitted with an Italian-made Weber DCOE carburetor. A fuel cell is installed within the left fuel tank, and a 13-row oil cooler was added in 2024

The close-ratio dog box transaxle was built and installed in 2024 using a race layshaft, roller-bearing drop gears, an upgraded pinion shaft support, and billet output flanges, output shafts, and driveshaft couplers. A new rear subframe was also installed at that time.
