1993 Audi S4 Land Speed Racecar

Extensively modified by Jeff Gerner, this 1993 Audi S4 is a piece of Bonneville history — it set multiple speed records on the Salt Flats and famously became the world’s fastest sedan in 2012, reaching 250.009 mph.

A detailed list of modifications is included, outlining the extensive performance upgrades. Highlights include a billet 92.8-millimeter crankshaft, Auto Verdi connecting rods, billet-machined Wiseco 81.5-millimeter pistons, a custom cylinder head with oversized ports, a Borg Warner S400SX turbocharger kit, an air-to-ice intercooler, Injector Dynamics ID1700 fuel injectors, a Drivesport 6-speed manual gearbox, a lowered suspension system, and a 6-point roll cage.

Originally introduced in 1991, the first-generation S4 was a high-performance version of Audi’s C4-generation 100. It featured a turbocharged and intercooled 5-cylinder engine paired with Quattro all-wheel drive. In 1994, the model evolved into the first-generation S6 as part of a mid-cycle update, remaining in production until 1997.

Power comes from a 2.4-liter turbocharged 5-cylinder engine, producing 1,155 horsepower and 706 lb-ft of torque according to a dyno sheet shown in the gallery. Power is sent to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission.

To start off his build, Jeff Gerner found a perfect rust free low milage 1993 Audi S4 that had never been in any accidents.
